1969 Chevelle – RT 509 CID BBC Engine 2011 CSCN Champion & OSCA Champion Quarter Mile: 7.7 & 182 MPH

Congratulations to George Azevedo and Mark Azevedo for developing their 1969 Chevelle street cruising & bruising machine into one of the fastest street car class drag race cars on D.O.T tires that delivers 7 second elapsed time performances.

When George Azevedo and his son Mark Azevedo, who pilots their Team Azevedo Flying Phantom, started racing their 1969 Chevelle in OSCA EZ Street Class competition they achieved respectable performances by running 8.5 second elapsed times in a heavy Chevy with a Rolling Thunderz prepared 509 cid engine, equipped with Dart Pro 1 cylinder heads. George and Mark then decided that they needed more power than their street/strip engine could deliver; so they decided to build a high tech Rolling Thunderz all aluminum Big Block Chevy engine with Dart Big Chief cylinder heads. The all aluminum 509 cid engine has helped to deliver very impressive 7.8 second elapsed time performances, making their Flying Phantom one of the fastest cars in the class.
